Older, closely built neighborhoods need extra care when underground work is done. Buildings stand close to the street, walks and paving may be made of materials that are hard to match, trees may be old and protected, and the lines under the street may include services installed at different times with incomplete records.

Title 25, Chapter 9, a locate request must go in at least two and at most eight business days before excavation, counting from 7:00 a.m. on the next business day, and a ticket is good for 30 calendar days. Work in public streets and sidewalks follows the right-of-way owner's conditions.
